Hello

I’m Ciatta Thompson, a Northwest Portland resident, a working-class advocate, and your candidate for Oregon House District 33 in 2026. I’ve walked the streets of our neighborhoods—from the Pearl District to Beaverton, Bethany to Forest Park—and I’ve seen the frustration firsthand: skyrocketing rents, unsafe corners, and homelessness challenges that demand real solutions, not more promises. Willamette Week praised my “clear-eyed candor” in tackling these issues during my 2024 District 4 city council run, and I’m bringing that same courage, conviction, and common sense to fight for HD 33’s families, workers, and businesses. I’m running because HD 33 deserves a leader who listens to you—renters struggling with $1,520 monthly costs, parents wanting safe streets for their kids, and small businesses crushed by taxes.

My Story

My campaign is built on four pillars to fix our district:

  • Housing Affordability: Our 51.8% renter-heavy district needs relief. I’ll push for tax credits and streamlined permitting to boost housing supply, making homes and rentals affordable in ZIPs like 97209 and 97005. No more forcing families out of our community.

  • Public Safety: From Forest Park to Cedar Mill, safety is non-negotiable. I’ll fully fund police and mental health programs to ensure stable, secure neighborhoods for residents and businesses. Courage means acting, not debating.

  • Homelessness Solutions: Encampments hurt our streets and local commerce. I’ll advocate for accountable shelter programs that deliver results—more beds, fewer tents—while supporting community-driven nonprofits across Northwest Portland and Beaverton.

  • Economic Growth: Our tech hubs in Bethany and retailers in downtown deserve a break. I’ll fight for no new taxes and less red tape, empowering entrepreneurs to create jobs and keep HD 33 thriving.

I’m not a career politician—I’m a working-class neighbor with the conviction to challenge Salem’s status quo. Whether it’s joining you at Northwest District Association meetings, collaborating with the Beaverton Chamber, or advocating for common-sense policies at realtor roundtables, I’m here to deliver results. Together, we can make HD 33 a place where families stay, businesses grow, and communities feel safe. Join me in this fight for courage, conviction, and common sense.
